CAROLINA SHORES NATURAL SOAP

Carolina Shores Natural Soap owner Lisa Keenan started her business in 2012 by selling her handmade, locally sourced products at the Topsail Beach Craft Market and Coral Cottage Boutique. By 2016, Lisa quit her job at the University of North Carolina Wilmington to open her store at 208 N. New River Drive.
Lisa works hard to use quality ingredients, and she carefully considers what is best for the customer. Carolina Shores Natural Soap draws ocean water for the ocean water soap and beach sand for the sandstone exfoliating soap.
“Our most popular scents are beachy and coastal,” said Lisa. “Ocean Water, Beach Breeze and Sea Salt Mist, are very popular because customers want to take home the scents of the beach.”
“We are a very unique business,” said Lisa.  “I see myself as a businessperson with three businesses. We make the soaps ourselves, we operate the retail store and we sell online. Keeping up with those takes time.”
It’s truly a family business. Lisa’s husband, Dan, a retired Marine, and their son, Rick, have developed a men’s line of soap products. “The men’s product line is a booming business,” added Lisa. “My son has a lot of input for the men’s line. There’s a greater awareness for men’s skincare and scents and they want products that are as natural as possible without aluminum.”
“Our customers come back year after year.” Lisa said she ships her products within the United States and as far away as Alaska and Hawaii.
