HOLLY RIDGE LIVE

FEATURED

WHERE LIVE MUSIC MEETS COMMUNITY CHARM

BY LORI BOOKIN

The story began in 2022, when the Surf City Council launched Surf City Live to boost business for downtown merchants, restaurants, and lodging during the off season. What started as a modest idea quickly grew into a beloved tradition, drawing visitors from across the area, showcasing the coordinators’ deep love for live music.

Jeremy and Tracey Shugarts, owners of The Daily Grind and unWINEd in Surf City, have poured their heart and soul into the local event since its inception. They knew they wanted to help keep the community thriving by offering a way for people to support the places they loved, while experiencing the joy of live music. The success of Surf City Live grew so fast, they knew they needed to expand.

And expand they did!

This year Surf City Live is debuting as Holly Ridge Live, sponsored by Shoreline Events, and will be held at Holly Ridge Park. Moving to the new location opens the door to bigger crowds, smoother logistics and a more comfortable experience for everyone. The Shugarts are excited because the new venue offers expanded parking, improved traffic flow and plenty of space for more families and extra activities. They even coordinated a shuttle bus that will run from the designated parking areas straight to the park gate, making transportation a breeze.
At the park, guests will enjoy a lively mix of food trucks, a vendor market and hands on activities for all ages. A dedicated VIP area offers upgraded amenities for those looking to elevate their experience. And for adults over 21, wine and beer will be available throughout the day with proceeds supporting a local nonprofit organization.
Over the years, the musical event has hosted an impressive lineup of nationally recognized artists including Diamond Rio, Scotty McCreery, Clint Black, and just last year, The Beach Boys and Josh Turner. Each performance helped to catapult the event’s reputation as a destination for music lovers who prefer the charm of a smaller scene over the bustle of big city concert venues. Make no mistake, the November 7th event promises a full day of unforgettable entertainment with sensational talent and a famous, chart-topping,  headliner leading the way.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Holly Ridge Live is the way it’s funded. Each year, the Shugarts give credit to more than 400 individuals, families and local businesses who contribute donations to bring the event to life. “It’s truly a testament to the community’s commitment to creating something special right here at home.” The result is an experience that feels personal, welcoming and deeply rooted in local pride. “It’s not just another local event, it’s a celebration of what happens when a community comes together to create something amazing. We couldn’t do this without everyone’s help and support.”
Want to attend Holly Ride Live? Tickets will be going on sale soon. Keep an eye on social media and check in with local businesses for updates and information.
Whether you’re a local ready to celebrate your hometown or a traveler seeking an authentic coastal community experience, Holly Ridge Live is going to be the can’t miss, 5-star concert experience of the fall season.
